Phoenix is a housing Co-operative, with over 90% of our members living in properties across Hackney and Tower Hamlets. We provide accommodation for single people in housing need who are on a low income. You must be over 18, have a low income (currently under £19,500 p.a.) and be either homeless or facing homelessness. Applicants must also apply to their local council for inclusion on their waiting list.
Most of our properties are shared and short life in which our members have their own bedroom, sharing, on average with 2 to 4 other members, a living room, kitchen and bathroom. Therefore, a responsible attitude to shared bills and willingness to co-operate is important. We do have some Co-op owned properties and some short life self-contained units (both at higher rents). We do not have any Co-op owned self-contained homes.
Phoenix is a member- led organisation that is governed by a structure of member Committees which all members are encouraged to participate in. In addition, Phoenix holds two annual General Meetings to which all members are invited.

In order to be considered for membership and housing within the Co-op, you will need to complete an application form. This can be downloaded from our website or you can come into the office and collect one. Once we have received your completed application form, it will be reviewed by a Committee of Co-op members. You will then be invited to attend a meeting to find out more about how the Co-op works and what accommodation we have available.

PLEASE NOTE:  THE WAITING LIST FOR MEMBERS IS PRESENTLY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
